Buying beef direct from a farm feels unfamiliar the first time — here's the process, step by step, using how it works at Fairway Farms as the example.

1. Choose your share size — whole, half, quarter, or eighth of one pasture-raised animal. 2. Place a deposit — this secures your order and is applied toward your final total. 3. Pick your cuts — we send a cut sheet so you can customize the order to your household.

4. Processing — your animal is processed at a USDA-inspected facility (Piedmont Custom Meats, central NC). 5. Pickup — you'll get an email when it's ready, usually 3–4 weeks after ordering. Bring coolers. 6. Final payment — based on actual hanging weight, paid at pickup.

That's it — no subscription, no contract, just a direct relationship between your family and the farm that raised your food.
